MSN Mobile
Overview: MSN Mobile delivers a host of customizable, wireless information services to consumers' interactive pagers, mobile phones and handheld devices. The offering underscores Microsoft's commitment to its vision of the Everyday Web, in which consumers can access content and services from MSN any time, anywhere and from any device. MSN was the first of the major Internet portal sites to provide wireless information services, starting in June 1999, and continues to show leadership with further advances. MSN Mobile one-way notifications provide news, sports, weather, stock quotes, horoscopes, personal alerts and lottery information as selected by the user. MSN Mobile 2.0, scheduled to be available on devices in April, will provide not only notifications but also interactive access to MSN services, such as the Hotmail® Web-based e-mail service and the MoneyCentral online personal finance service, for Web-enabled mobile phones and handheld devices. Notification Services: MSN Mobile is highly customizable, allowing consumers to control what information they receive and when they receive it. Each content topic can be selected based on consumers' individual needs or geographic locations. Content for MSN Mobile notifications can be delivered to any mobile device that supports e-mail receipt and includes the following: News. Users can receive national, international, political, business and technology news using preprogrammed summaries or keyword triggers. Sports. Consumers can follow their favorite professional and college sports teams via their wireless devices. Between games, they can keep up with news about their teams. Weather. Local forecasts can be tracked for most major U.S. and Canadian cities. Financial information. Users can receive quotes for U.S. and Canadian stocks and stock indexes. They can also set up triggers for notification, including time of day and price movements. Horoscopes. Daily horoscopes can be delivered directly to users' wireless devices. Personal alerts. Consumers can set up reminders for specific appointments or tasks with personalized messages. One-time and recurring alerts can be scheduled. Lottery. State lottery numbers can be received for most U.S. states. Numbers are available for most games within each state. Interactive Services: MSN Mobile 2.0 will enhance the current offering to give consumers the power to use the Internet on demand and will make more MSN services available on more devices. Users can personalize the information they need by visiting the MSN Mobile Web site from their desktop or personalize directly from their Web-enabled mobile device. This seamless integration of services allows consumers easy access to their customized account with a few simple clicks. MSN Mobile 2.0 will support some of the most popular services on the Internet:
